First person narration by Thomas Wingfield, an Englishman whose adventures include having his mother murdered, a brush with the Spanish Inquisition, shipwreck, and slavery as he searches for the Spanish villian who killed Thomas’ mother. He is relating the story 70 years after it opens in 1578. Thomas’ revenge quest takes him to Mexico becoming involved with Cortez as Thomas sides with the Aztecs.
