Herbert George Wells (1866 – 1946) was an English writer. He was prolific in many genres, writing dozens of novels, short stories, and works of social commentary, but he is now best remembered for his science fiction novels. «Ann Veronica: A Modern Love Story» is a novel, which describes the rebellion of a young lady named Ann Veronica Stanley against her middle-class father’s stern patriarchal rule. The novel dramatizes the contemporary problem of the New Woman. It is set in Victorian era London and environs, except for an Alpine excursion.
